Today some desert goodness!

Probably about 2.5 hours, though I lost track of time part-way through due to roomie-conversations.

I'm starting to get a feel for the pushing of perspective by greying out the background and dodge/luminescence the brightest foreground elements, I think... but I need to back off from the textures a touch, or else spend some more time making sure that they fit in with the piece. Ah well, next time!

Reference image is again from the depths of my ref folder, so I don't know its origin, apologies!

Artslam stuff so far beneath the cut!Collapse )

Probably the last mountain speedpaint for a bit -- I think I'm starting to get a better idea of how they work, so I can go back to working on the painting that I'd originally WANTED to do that set me off on needing to brush up. May move on to some deserts, as I have some fun reference images for that. This whole practice is really kind of soothing. Sit and stare and paint and listen to chill music playlists on soundcloud for an hour or two at a time. Now to figure out how to make it less of a pain to hunch over a computer, and I'll be perfect!

1 1/2 hours split over two days on this one -- first half an hour was spent on the background, the hour today on the foreground and making the mountains fade back a bit. Still figuring out how to make perspective go!

In other news, artslam is going full tilt! I'll soon have to upload the bits that I have for that, though they're not yet nearly so colourful!

Artslam starts tomorrow, so I'll probably be interspersing speed paintings with concept-work, if I'm crimped for time. I'm hoping to still be able to do a little bit of both on my days off, though!

Anyways, here's today's. It was about an hour and a half for this one!

This one was done in about 1/2 an hour, so I didn't have time to go in with the pen tool to better define shapes, nor to texture-ify the foreground a bit. It makes a huge difference!

Discovered how rusty I was with landscapes the other day, so I've decided to take up speedpainting in the morning before work to try to regain some ground. Came up with this in an hour... wish I had more time, but then again, it wouldn't be a speed painting if I could work on it all day!

(Promise this will get more exciting once artslam gets going... right now I'm madly doing brushup so that my contributions won't be so dissatisfactory! X3)

These are all projects from class. Next dump will be the 'for fun' doodles that I've had scant time for, myself!

school stuffCollapse )

doesn't really seem like that much anymore for all being clumped together in one week's worth of deadlines. x_O

Some process/planning for a restart of the Nexistence comic. If nothing else, at least the first five pages will be done for school. XD I do plan on having this restart be the 'official' beginning for Nexistence. Having the first 19 pages ready to roll is pretty sweet! :D

Thar be spoilers-ish in here, though perhaps not hard core spoilers. XD
